I'm pretty sure he's smiling RIGHT at me.
Better late than never! two weekends ago Joshy Boy and I went to the 1-2-3-4 Shoreditch Festival, a hop skip and jump from our flat. Here are just a couple of photos from the day - I filled a whole memory card.
Our favourite acts in order of appearance:
Novella - a dreamy quartet from the east London area, harmonies, clever lyrics, and a string of songs you can't help but dance to. They will definitely be on heavy rotation this summer for me.
Raveonettes - The second time I have seen them in the last two months but they were incredible none the less. They are such a tight band.
Black Lips - This goes without saying though. I saw them last year at Sled Island in Calgary but they played while it was still light out - it really took away from their party vibe. This time around was not a let down! Being in the photography pit, when I heard the first few chords of 'O Katrina' I knew I was in for something. Within seconds tall cans of beer started pelting me from behind. Terrifying and exhilarating all at once. I made the mistake of turning around to take a peek at the crowd; I was greeted with a plethora of demented faces all losing their minds to the music. Their set was concluded with projectile toilet paper rolls which were, in my opinion, much nicer to be hit with than the beer cans.
The weather was lovely and I managed to survive without the obligatory festival wellies. Has anyone else been to a fantastic festival this summer?
