Hey dolls! I've been jumping from the present to the past over the last few posts.... and this is another leap in the timeline. Miss Olivia Stingle came to visit a couple weeks ago and we took a day trip to the coastal town of Brighton. It was pissing rain in London but surprisingly sunny when we arrived at our destination. (side note: I feel that since moving here all I seem to talk about is the weather and food)

On the train ride down there was this little girl who was singing her "train song" for her dad. I believe some of the lyrics were "Train time, train time. Things passing by" something to that effect. You better believe I will be ripping off that gem of a song whenever I do start a band... which is impending.

I am fortunate enough to be flatmates with one of my best friends Jash, whom you are all well acquainted with at this point. There was also Miss Robin who appeared here on occasion when I was still living in Edmonton. The one who has flown under the radar has been Miss Cecily

Miss Cecily and I have been friends since grade 10 when we bonded over our complete lack of knowledge in Math 10 Pure. We also had Dance 15 together. Class schedules aside, we haven't lived in the same city since 2006. Irony has always been massively apparent in my life, but more so when she moved to Toronto almost immediately after I had graduated and left town! There is, however, a happy enough ending to this story - she just popped by for a visit and will be coming back to London TWICE in the next little while and I cannot wait.

I hope you enjoy this archive of photographs, one of which is recent. We have gone through many hairstyles and sartorial choices in the time we have known each other. Unfortunately since digital cameras were still quite new (and expensive) I do not have a plethora of shots from our sweet high school days; although I think both Ces and I are much happier leaving our formative style years a secret. For now at least. I could probably do a whole post on when I used to be punk.... the make-up alone!

I  am one for the occasional tacky tourist souvenir - (last summer I bought an Enchanted Forest colouring book) but this trip I collected my favourite kind of keepsakes - bizarro memories, rubbings, and quirky postcards. Jash walked away with some cookbooks and kitchen utensils (no surprises there).

I'm a big fan of the rubbing, it's a less corporate keepsake that costs next to nothing once you've acquired the supplies - pencil crayons and a sketchbook. I started getting into them the last time I lived in England. There is a set of coins that when put together make the royal coat of arms and as I found each piece to the puzzle, I would make a rub copy of it in my journal. This quickly turned into a favourite past time when I realized how many surfaces made interesting rubbings. On one of my vacations to Los Angeles I went a little buck wild - here is a taste

What are your favourite things to collect on holiday?

Wearing: black velvet jacket - thrifted. black tank top - target. sunglasses - ray bans. cheap monday jeans - jash's. striped tote - the hudson's bay company. shoes - nine west.

All trips must come to an end... thank goodness Jash was around to carry our luggage down these death defying stairs. Seven flights of twisting rickety wood stairs and tile landings. It was a precarious situation that I was glad to be manoeuvring without two suitcases (one was just bedding! We are not over-packers!)

I have also recently discovered that I fit into Jash's jeans.... which have now been usurped.

At this point in our trip even I was getting burnt out on tourists. Since we were staying right by the Eiffel Tower with our gracious hostess Miss Olivia Stingle there was no shortage of snap happy traveling families. Sacre Coeur was no different. If the view wasn't so spectacular, I would never go there ever again. The weather was starting to take a turn for the worse but I managed to pull out a smile for just one shot.

One of my must-do's in Paris is the Palais de Tokyo. Not only does it have insane art exhibitions but there is an old timey chemical photobooth which I have visited on multiple occasions. It's gift shop is stacked with hard to find magazines, incredible books, and arty postcards, always good for a browse. The backside of the building, overlooking the Seine and the Eiffel Tower is a hot spot for skateboarders - we kept joking about grabbing our boards and shredding the gnar palais, but we're all talk.

Of course there had to be gratuitous shots of the Eiffel Tower, after all we WERE in Paris. Right?
