wrought iron wonderland

Vancouver Island is a hippie dippie wonderland. If you didn't already know the vibe, it's bohemian, goats on the roof, antique dreams there and it fits me like a glove. When visiting Gabriola, I always love to catch the ferry over to Vancouver Island for one part sightseeing and two parts thrifting; this trip was no exception. After arriving in Coombs we overindulged in the generous portions of delicious fare at the Old Country Market, a building that features goats grazing on the rooftop.  The madness didn't end there, we trekked down a busy highway amid the last of the tourist traffic to a bird sanctuary thrift store. There I found a lambswool coat with fur trimmed collar amongst the teetering, haphazardly piled treasures. Sometimes a little digging pays off.

Fortunately for my Mum and I, my Dad came to pick us up off the side of the highway concluding the pedestrian portion of this adventure. He then drove us to the most magical place on the island where wrought iron meet antler chandeliers in perfect harmony. This mythical store is known as Demxx.

I suppose the locals weren't used to impromptu fashion blog photo shoots within their dreamy wrought iron playground. I slowly became aware of the gaze as I emoted for the camera operated by my mom. (Fun fact: my Mother is the eye behind the camera lens for nearly 95% of my photographs) As always, I carried on as if it were totally normal to boss your mother around in regards to camera angles and away we went.
