Mac Demarco took the stage to the sounds of the Jurassic Park theme song and proceeded to caw (like a pterodactyl perhaps?) then promptly started into "The Way You'd Love Her" off his latest full length release Another One. Union Hall was packed to the brim with Vans wearing, baseball capped 16 + attendees and a VIP area full of relatives; exactly what you'd expect at a hometown show.
He played all the hits ("Cooking Up Something Good," "Salad Days" etc) and Jon Lent served up a side of sass behind the keyboards, see above photo. Maybe it's my civic pride but Demarco's Union Hall performance sure felt like a cozy hang out as compared to his set at Coachella. Definitely an enjoyable way to spend a Tuesday evening.
